Sequel Syndrome

As the war for book one begins to come to a close, I look back on having written the first story in After World, it’s characters, their struggles, and the themes left behind: the struggle for the sense of self, not judging someone based on your own preconceptions, creating fortitude within one’s spirit, and ensuring you always read the fine print in everything you sign ^*.

With these themes and characters in mind, I can’t help but begin to look towards the next installation in After World. For many years now, I have seen many stories, movies, and productions create sequels that worked and some that haven’t. For those sequels that work well, often their success has lead to a series of progressive story lines that captivate the world’s audience; but for those who fail, their stories soon become consumed either by their own need to change their world to fit a specific rubric, or due to the creator providing an ‘bland echo’ of their tale previous.

It’s with these thoughts in mind I begin to plan my sequel to Myths of Origin: After World. I can only hope to not to become mired in the wasteland of lost sequels.
